I don't have grandchildren yet (my children are 13 and 17, so hopefully that's some time away), but they have a very, very healthy 'scepticism' towards all things religious as they're both - like their parents - atheists. But, nevertheless, they understand that it's essential to respect others' values as long as those values recognise the importance of being oneself and recognising the importance of finding that importance in others. Which is, in essence, the Golden Rule. When did that dissolve into history?
