Beautiful! She may then ask to meet God, which is not a bad thing at all, and soon enough she’ll realize God is within her itself. Grandpa and grandma are both divine!

This was endearing and thoughtful. It was also great advice for grandparents everywhere. Nicely done.

Grandpa is smart. Grandma is wise." Very true. But you must also give credit to your 6 year old granddaughter; she spotted the lie and called it out. Now many, many lies that depend on that foundational lie will crumble in front of her. Bravo!

Lesson for her parents, too. Treat the Bible with the same credulity of The Brothers Grimm, Aesop's Fables, various fairy tales and Bugs Bunny Cartoons.

ALTHOUGH, all that Billy Graham-approved incest explains the sheer general idiocy present to this day in the human race.

So sweet. Love that your daughter pawned the question off to you and wifey. But hey, that’s what grandparents are for. Candy, presents and difficult questions. Hehe.

Lovely post. And yes, the 'map is not the territory'! I fully appreciate your sentiment and thoughts. I don't have grandchildren yet (my children are 13 and 17, so hopefully that's some time away), but they have a very, very healthy 'scepticism' towards all things religious as they're both - like their parents - atheists. But, nevertheless, they understand that it's essential to respect others' values as long as those values recognise the importance of being oneself and recognising the importance of finding that importance in others. Which is, in essence, the Golden Rule. When did that dissolve into history?
